Description of numbers performed by Brazilian Fantasy Show at a large scale event.
• Opening Number
A high-energy dance to introduce the members of the group and different dance styles of
Brazil. The main dance style performed is the samba, however there are other elements, including a frevo solo. The music is very fast and uplifting. A popular Brazilian singer, Daniela Mercury, performs the song and she sings about people and places in
Rio de Janeiro.
• Samba
This is the rhythm of carnival. The batucada drums provide the rhythm for the dancers to perform an amazing dance which is the signature dance of
Brazil. The samba is energetic, exciting and sensual.
• Mambo
A dance performed by a couple using a rhythm from
Cuba. The dancers perform a highly flirtatious choreography that is also technically demanding. A very popular number with the audience.
• Capoeira
Brazilian martial arts which incorporates acrobatics, music, dance and a martial arts fight sequence. The dancers perform dynamic somersaults, back-flips and jumps, always admired by the audience for their agility, athleticism and power. Capoeira was developed by the African slaves in
Brazil and used a method of fighting and keeping fit.
• Lambada
A dance performed by couples that is so sensual that it became known as the “forbidden dance”. This dance style was made popular world wide when the group “Kaoma” released a lambada song that became a number one hit.
• Lambada Competition
This is a feature of the show, where members of the audience are invited to the dance floor to participate in a fun dancing competition. This part of the show is memorable for all involved, entertaining to watch and a certain to enthuse people to dance.
• Salsa
A dance performed by couples, that originated in
Cuba, Puerto Rico and
Colombia. This particular choreography has a modern interpretation that is very energetic and dynamic. The song is by Gloria Estefan, a much loved Cuban American singer, famous world-wide.
• Bolero
A modern jazz and flamenco inspired choreography performed by the female members.
• Samba Reggae
Contemporary dance which is currently very popular in
Brazil. It is a mixture of samba and funk, with a very energetic twist.
• Latin Mix
A high energy number incorporating Latin hip hop, cha-cha, salsa and samba.
• Afro
A primitive style of dance that is part of the folkloric culture of
Brazil. It is part of African culture and religion, worship of nature and the gods. This choreography includes a dramatic solo performance by a male dancer, as he worships the god Xango.
• Brazilian Drums
This is an excellent closing number that involves all the members of the group and large extravagant costumes, as the group farewells the audience.
